Nokia N97 mini review - SlashGear

We’ve had two QWERTY Nokia smartphones on the SlashGear test-bench this past week, and the surprising thing is how differently the respective user experience is. Our Nokia E72 review went live earlier today; now we turn to the Nokia N97 mini, viewed by many – for better or for worse – as the Finnish company’s second attempt at the N97. Second-time lucky or still well short?

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 heading to AT&T -- Engadget

Man, the loot you can uncover when you go snooping around spec pages. That most ambitious of Sony Ericsson projects, the XPERIA X10, is still a long way from being released, but already we can narrow down the list of potential US carriers to just one: AT&T. The guys over at Phandroid were the first to spot the newly added UMTS frequency specs for the phone, and the available 800/850/1900/2100 bands fit only AT&T's 3G network.

Nokia’s E72 has finally begun shipping, having been announced all the way back in June. Barnes and Noble nook hands-on | SlashGear

Barnes and Noble’s nook may not be the first wireless ebook reader we’ve seen, but with its dual displays, color touchscreen, compact form-factor and Android OS it’s perhaps the most distinctive. The nook isn’t expected to launch until the end of November, but SlashGear were at the B&N launch event in NYC today. Check out our coverage – and some first impressions

AT&T breaks out its new 3G Microcell | CNET Blogs

AT&T has finally unleashed its new femtocell in a public market trial in Charlotte, N.C. Dubbed the 3G MicroCell, the AT&T femtocell is designed to boost both the voice and data signal in your home by using your home broadband network. This is similar to how Verizon's and Sprint's femtocells work, though neither of them handles 3G/EV-DO. (Instead of femtocells, T-Mobile has gone the UMA route with T-Mobile HotSpot @ Home, which requires UMA-enabled phones that can use Wi-Fi to make calls). Gearlog reports that AT&T stores are charging $150 for the actual 3G MicroCell hardware, while the service is free. If you want unlimited calling as well, there's a $20-per-month charge, unless you already have an AT&T landline or DSL service. To help take the sting off that monthly charge, AT&T is offering a $100 rebate if you sign up for the unlimited plan.

MyTouch on sale at Radio Shack; T-Mobile offers more 3G | CNET

"Google Android fans can now buy the new T-Mobile MyTouch 3G at 4,000 Radio Shack stores nationwide. The price will remain the same ($199), but you'll be able to purchase the phone, sign a contract, pay your upgrade fee and pick up that plug adapter that you've been meaning to get. Radio Shack, which annoyingly calls itself "The Shack," has long carried smartphones from most major carriers, but this is the first time it will offer an Android handset." ... more info at link
