Archos 5 Internet Media Tablet finally available | gadgetell

"While Microsoft is busy releasing the Zune HD today, Archos also pushed out its Archos 5 Internet Media Tablet on Amazon.com. It might not be the redemption of a formerly flailing brand, though it is possibly a bit more interesting that the Zune HD. While the Zune HD is being pushed as a major iPod competitor, the Archos 5 is being pushed as an Internet tablet that also has a wide range of media capabilities." ... more info at link

Pandora comes to Android, world's networks that much closer to buckling | engadget

"As must-have mobile apps go, Pandora ranks high on the books -- with the proliferation of 3G and WiFi, it comes dangerously close to obsoleting the need to carry around your own 8, 16, or 32GB worth of tracks -- and another big-ticket platform has now joined the compatibility short list. This time around it's Android that's getting hooked up, offering a home screen widget and background playback (we'd expect no less on Android) over whatever type of network connection you've got handy." ... details and info at link

Android Glass Desktop Phone | techchee

"Cloud Telecomputers has announced a desktop phone that comes with an 8-inch touchscreen display and runs the Android OS. It is likely the first time we’ve seen that a desktop phone runs Android. This desktop phone sits on the “Glass Platform” and taps on many features available with the Google Android OS such as visual voice mail, SMS, email, calendar and it’ll work with most Android applications.

The Glass-powered Desktop Phone can work with most landlines, SIP and VOIP clients and will also be compatible with Google Voice. It also supports Bluetooth, so you can pair your mobile phone with the Cloud Telecomputers desktop phone via Bluetooth and use it to answer calls on your mobile phone." ... details at link

Motorola Sholes Android phone headed for Verizon? | engadget

"On the lookout for the Motorola / Android / Verizon trifecta, we dug up some handset renders over at motofan.ru that seem to fit the bill quite well, thank you. According to the site, "Sholes" is a 3.7-inch (480 x 854) touchscreen device that will make its debut in the U.S. in October, featuring: 512MB storage, 256MB RAM, support for microSD / microSDHC up to 16 GB (an 8GB microSD ships with the phone), a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, GPS, and the expected connectivity (USB, Bluetooth 2.0, WiFi), audio, and video formats. And if the translation wasn't hopelessly garbled, the source is also saying that this bad boy will support both CDMA and EVDO Rev A ." ... more details at link

Android-based Creative Zii EGG gets official | CNET Reviews

"We knew Creative was up to something when that Zii Egg FCC application flew past us earlier this month, but we had no idea it would be this awesome, or this confusing. Turns out the Zii Egg (what an unfortunate name) is a multitouch-wielding, HD video-playing, dual-camera-having (front and back) rival to the iPhone and iPod Touch, running on Google's Android OS (see all the official specs over at Zii.net).

You can grab a 32GB model now for $400, but don't expect it to be fully baked. Creative is announcing this as a "developer edition" in the hopes that the Android community will pick up the platform and run with it. I guess it takes a village to beat an iPhone." ... more info and video at link

T-Mobile announces impending myTouch 3G » Coolest Gadgets

"T-Mobile has announced that they will be offering a new Android-powered handset in due time to oust the aged G1 smartphone, and this time round it would be the T-Mobile myTouch 3G that will be taking over the baton. Just in case you were wondering the myTouch 3G is also known as the HTC Magic in other parts of the world, and the smartphone will come packaged in a sleek body alongside a contoured feel, boasting a wide range of new features which will surely make it a success compared to its rather muted predecessor.
