250GB PS3 Slim coming in November for $350 | CNET

"Sony Computer Entertainment America on Thursday announced that a new 250GB variation of the PlayStation 3 Slim will be available beginning November 3 for $349.99. The PS3 hardware will otherwise remain the same as the 120GB flavor of the Slim, which costs $50 less. The console maker will also continue to sell the physically larger, previous model of the PS3 which comes with either an 80GB or 160GB hard drive."

"Who’s tired of official announcements? Well, we’re not, but let’s shake some things up with a bit of a leak, what do you say? Well, not so much a leak, as a rumor. A rumor from a mole. So you know just about how far you can take this: as long as your imagination goes. Either way, if the competition has anything to say about it, then a 250GB PS3 Slim doesn’t seem all that impossible.

From a “reliable source”, the 250GB PS3 Slim will be unveiled some time next month, as the Spanish portion of Eurogamer was told. We should apparently be expecting a 350 Euros price tag, or $509 here in the States. "Well, now things are really getting interesting. Not three full days have passed since Sony made headlines by announcing a $100 price cut for the PlayStation 3, and Microsoft has apparently made a price cut play of its own with the Xbox 360 Elite.

Kotaku reports that the August 30th Wal-Mart catalogue shows the 120GB Elite on sale for $299. The $100-off ad is the second such ad to be reported on in the past couple weeks, suggesting that perhaps this isn’t just some twisted Photoshop prank designed to mess with prospective shoppers’ minds." ... con't at link

The rumors of the impending arrival of a new PlayStation 3 are growing more fierce as new hints seem to turn up almost daily in the blogsphere. The latest discovery to pop up is what appears to be an internal document from 7-Eleven--which sells games in Japan--that suggests Sony may be about to discontinue the 80GB PS3 in its home country.
According to a report by a Japanese blog that Kotaku turned into English, 7-Eleven will no longer be taking "pre-orders" for black, white and silver 80GB PS3 after Sunday, August 9. (The document this information is based on is referred to as a "notice")." ... New one coming? Details at link.
