iPhone 3GS Supreme » Coolest Gadgets

Just when you thought that the worldwide economy has started to recover and people would be careful about their spending, along comes the $3.2 million iPhone 3GS Supreme from Goldstriker. Taking 10 months to create, it was commissioned by an “Australian gold mining magnate” – someone who clearly has tons of cash but unfortunately for him, cannot afford any good taste in fashion. The iPhone 3GS Supreme tops all phone prices in the world, coming in a 22K solid gold casing, featturing 136 diamonds that adorn the front bezel. As for its rear logo, it boasts 53 flawless diamonds while the front navigation button holds an extremely rare diamond at 7.1 cts.

WOW!!!

Dude, can I crash on your Athena Sofa? » Coolest Gadgets

"Normally, when you spend the night sleeping on your friend’s couch, you’re usually in for a second-rate experience. I mean, the best you can hope for is that it folds out into a bed.

In the case of the Athena sofa, I could easily make it into an office. I mean, it has an LCD in each armrest that are integrated by a multimedia PC.

As you can see, these screens pop out of the armrests itself and flatten themselves out when not in use. (I wouldn’t rest my coffee cup there, though. At least not without a coaster.)

The Athena sofa also comes with an iPhone and iPod dock, and a set of hidden speakers that include an 8-inch subwoofer." ... more info at link

Now I really need one of these... maybe two ;)

iTwinge: iPhone dream keyboard? | CNET Reviews

(Credit: Mobile Mechatronics)

If you're an iPhone owner who just hates typing on the device's virtual keyboard, Mobile Mechatronics has something for you: the iTwinge, a $30 BlackBerry-style, slide-on keyboard that mounts right on the iPhone.

Now iPhone purists are probably thinking this should be called the iCringe, but if you're heavy into texting and e-mailing and aren't proficient with the virtual keyboard, I can see some merit to using this device. However, it obviously covers up a good 40 percent of the iPhone's screen, which would seem problematic.

According to Mobile Mechatronics, the iTwinge Keyboard is a typing "Skin" for the iPhone that "enables faster and more accurate typing through the use of our patent pending Twinge Technology." Also, according to the company, studies show that an average user will improve their typing speed by 30 percent to 40 percent and reduce typing errors by 70 percent to 80 percent.

The lightweight keyboard sleeve--it weighs an ounce--attaches to the bottom of the iPhone and mimics the iPhone's virtual keyboard (it appears that touching the keys simply transfers the touch to the virtual keys below). According to the company's FAQ section, it slips on and off in a second and is durable. It's also worth noting that it apparently draws some power from your iPhone, but only a tiny amount.

Mobile Mechatronics indicates that the iTwinge is also a training tool for those transitioning from a phone with a physical keyboard to the iPhone's virtual keyboard and that it has an iPhone app in development that helps "users build muscle memory & improve typing skills."

The iTwinge is scheduled to ship on November 17 and the company is taking preorders now. We assume Mobile Mechatronics has Apple's blessing to sell this, but it's worth noting that Apple has refused so far to approve or create Bluetooth drivers that would let you use a wireless keyboard to type on the iPhone. I've written about the whole iPhone Bluetooth keyboard fiasco in the past, and I still can't understand why Apple wouldn't give its users the option of using a Bluetooth keyboard with the iPhone.

Anyway, what do you guys think of the iTwinge? Is it intriguing and innovative or a waste of money?

Navigon iPhone app gets more new features | iPhone Atlas | CNET Reviews

For the second time in as many months, Navigon has released an update to its MobileNavigator GPS app. The big news this time? Text-to-speech.

Since MobileNavigator debuted in late July, the App Store has grown crowded with competitors, including CoPilot Live, iGo My Way, and TomTom.

But not one of them offers the coveted text-to-speech feature (yet), which announces actual street names instead of just saying "turn right ahead." ... more details at link

Sharp goes portable with two new iPod speakers | Crave - CNET

"We've seen our fair share of iPod speakers, the vast majority of which don't let you take them on the go. Sharp today has announced two new iPod speakers for such a task, the DK-AP8P and the DK-AP7P.

The larger, more powerful AP8P has a very unique design, with its front face plate also doubling as the system's control panel. The magnetic cover actually comes off the system itself which makes for an interesting remote control. The AP8P and AP7P both offer 2.1 sound with built-in subwoofers and compatibility with iPods and the iPhone. Better yet, the portable systems will charge your music player while docked." ... details and pic at link

Super USB Mobile Phone Charger Charges More Than Your Mobile Phone | SlashGear

"While we hate to admit it, a universal charger doesn’t seem to be something that’s going to happen any time soon for the mobile phone industry. And while we don’t expect anything from the other personal gadget manufacturers, it’s pretty ridiculous that we usually need to buy a new charger when we get a new phone. Making a standard seems to be the obvious thing to do, but hey, what do we know? Then again, if we had a universal rule of thumb for charging our phones, we wouldn’t get cool devices like this." ... info and details at link
