Verizon HTC Touch Pro2 lands for $199.99 | SlashGear

"Verizon has become the third US carrier to offer the HTC Touch Pro2, with the slide-out QWERTY Windows Mobile smartphone priced at $199.99 following a mail-in $100 rebate. That means it neatly undercuts the Sprint and T-Mobile versions, though still offers the same jam-packed spec sheet." ... details at link

4 new webOS phones from Palm for $1? | gadgetell

"Hot on the heels of the Palm Pre launch from Sprint, it looks like Palm has cooked up some new phones that we’ll see this fall. And even better, we’ll see them on two networks: Verizon and Sprint. From the looks of the part numbers, we’ll be in for a surprise.

From Verizon, the screen shot leak introduces a P101 which most expect to be a varient of the Palm Pre. Way back when, Verizon said they would have the Palm Pre, so we can expect this is pretty close to real. The other part number listed in the leak is P121. To date, we have not seen anything regarding this part number, though many speculate this the Palm Eos." ... more info at link

V Cast Video now on BlackBerry Storm | CNET

"When the RIM BlackBerry Storm debuted last year, there were quite a few things about it that made us scratch our heads. One of the biggest was the 3G handset's limited support for Verizon Wireless services. Though it could play music and video, it didn't support Verizon's V Cast Music or the carrier's V Cast Video.

Apparently, Verizon realized not all was well in the land. On Friday the carrier announced that the Storm would support V Cast Video for your viewing pleasure. The cost will be $10 per month for the usual programming including news and weather, sports recaps and television programming.

V Cast Video and the earlier V Cast Music addition help the Storm gain a little more respectability. Now if they could just fix that SurePress feature." ... details and link info at link

Motorola Sholes Android phone headed for Verizon? | engadget

"On the lookout for the Motorola / Android / Verizon trifecta, we dug up some handset renders over at motofan.ru that seem to fit the bill quite well, thank you. According to the site, "Sholes" is a 3.7-inch (480 x 854) touchscreen device that will make its debut in the U.S. in October, featuring: 512MB storage, 256MB RAM, support for microSD / microSDHC up to 16 GB (an 8GB microSD ships with the phone), a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, GPS, and the expected connectivity (USB, Bluetooth 2.0, WiFi), audio, and video formats. And if the translation wasn't hopelessly garbled, the source is also saying that this bad boy will support both CDMA and EVDO Rev A ." ... more details at link

Verizon rumored to be pushing up LTE plans to Q1 2010, new Apple device the catalyst? | engadget

"So we already knew Verizon was looking to push LTE out the door and to about 20 to 30 markets in the second half of 2010, but Tech Crunch's got it on good word that the company's doing everything in its power to get the service ready to go in a number of areas in time for Q1 2010. That's interesting in and of itself, but together with this morning's whispers of Apple's tablet coming early next year and past talk of an Apple / VZW partnership, and the tale gets exponentially more intriguing. As TC suggests, a tablet lacking voice service on the LTE network wouldn't violate AT&T's not-at-all permanent exclusivity. Its source said there was one LTE device, not a wireless card, that this early launch was being "specifically geared towards," but even if so, that could apply to any number of other non-Apple gadgets (from Nokia, perhaps?). Of course, much of this is rumor built on rumor, so no matter how well these pieces might seem to fall in place -- or how potentially awesome the idea might seem -- there's a large grain of salt you should be taking with you." ... additional links at link

Verizon tunes Storm into Slacker Radio | CNET

"Don't have a streaming radio application on your BlackBerry Storm yet? If you're a Verizon user, all you have to do to get one is wait.

On Thursday, Verizon started rolling out the Slacker Radio application to every BlackBerry Storm user in its U.S. network. The free version of Slacker Personal Radio App will appear as an icon on the Storm home screen. Those who would rather opt out can hide the button and ignore the service.

In addition to discovering and rating songs, Slacker's edge on BlackBerry is its ability to cache stations for offline listening. This is particularly useful when traveling through weak Wi-Fi areas or dead data zones that would make streaming music a challenge." ...more info at link.
